Team Kristi

This past Thursday I helped out with a benefit for my friend Kristi who is battling breast cancer...for the second time.

Y'all may remember the picture of Connor peeing on the fence with another little boy. That's Luke, Kristi's youngest. Luke and Connor are only a few months apart and they really have a good time when they play together.

Kristi was diagnosed with estrogen positive breast cancer two years ago. She fought a tough battle and a year later was clean. Then a year later she was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. This cancer is very fast growing and painful. She has had one mastectomy, last month, and they are hoping to do the other side soon.

It's hard to watch a friend go through something like this. Kristi is one of the kindest, funniest people I know. I love hanging out with her and try to do what I can to make life just a little easier for her these days.

This past Thursday, her friends got together to do a spaghetti benefit for her and her family. We sold tickets to the dinner, desserts ,t-shirts and had a silent auction. We had many people show up and saw some real kindness from both young and old. I am proud that I was able to participate. Hopefully we raised enough money to help with some massive medical bills.

Today I just want to remind everyone to take care of your health and not take it or your family or friends for granted. You never know what's waiting for you just around the corner.

We tried to pick up marbles with our toes.  Connor found it easy, but Evan had to hold the marbles to his foot to do it! Creative problem solving!

Next we used some clothes pins and matched the number on the plate with the number of clothes pins we put on it.

Connor discovered that he can do a somersault.

We had our first experiences with water balloons....of course they popped pretty quickly.

We went back to the dr today to discuss Connor's inability to completely potty train. They think he has an overactive bladder so we will be starting some meds soon (if the incredibly slow pharmacy ever gets around to putting it together.) Let's hope this works!

My business is going well. My team is up to 23 people (including me). We qualified as an official team last month, but need to keep up that level of sales now to keep it going! It's really hard to do right now.  People are so busy with the end of school and sports and everything that they aren't coming to events and all the parties that I had scheduled (7) canceled! I will be in San Antonio next week for a homeschool convention. I'm hoping that makes up for the lack of sales the rest of the month!

Activities

 For my business blog I'm starting a 30 Days of Fun - Preschool Edition set of posts. But in order to really do it correctly, I need to try out the activities before I suggest them to the world.  Luckily I happen to have a couple of preschoolers around to help me!

 Our first activity was to use a plastic spoon to put marbles into a water bottle.  This helps with eye/hand coordination and fine motor skills.  They liked it!

 The second activity we tried was to use toothpicks and grapes to build things. 

They really liked this! They also managed to eat most of the grapes so I'm not sure we'll get to do it again soon, but it's def an activity to do again!

Unfortunately for my blog, I wasn't thinking when I choose these activities.  The point was to do one from each category (science, math, reading, writing, gross and fine motor skills), but I managed to pull the first two activities from the Fine Motor Skills list.  So we may do one category at a time and then move on. You'll have to check out what I do on Play 2 Learn with Sarah and stop by to see the new look!  I got some help with my design! 

Baby Bonnie

Over Easter weekend, I went to CO to visit Bonnie (I did say hi to Matt and Lydia too but really just to visit Bonnie)!  She's pretty stinking cute...as you can see and I never heard her cry once in 48 hrs!

She only likes to stand or play on the floor...no sitting around for this girl!

The boys did fine at home with Daddy by themselves although Connor was very worried they wouldn't be ok without me. He made me promise not to go anywhere without him again when I got home!

Business Blog

My SimplyFun business is really growing...I'm up to 12 team members! It's so much fun working with women to help them create their own ideal versions of a home-based business and brainstorm ways of growing all of our businesses.

Thought I'd post some random pictures I'd taken with my phone lately. The camera is still not cooperating so the phone is pretty much all we have these days.

We went to the San Antoinio Zoo and got to interact with the hippos. It was VERY cool!

Connor got up too early and was cranky by the time afternoon rolled around. We have been skipping nap time lately since neither of them falls asleep until after 10pm if they nap.
